Congratulations to senior Emily Stauffer for earning a Dorsey Scholarship, the highest academic honor at McDaniel College. This scholarship includes full tuition, room, and board for all four years of college, valued at more than $250,000.00.
On Thursday, March 19, representatives from McDaniel College traveled to Warwick High School to surprise Stauffer and share the news in person.
The purpose of the scholarship is to honor and celebrate outstanding and high-achieving students who will become future academic leaders and role models on McDaniel’s campus. Students who are considered for the honor do not apply for the award, but are chosen from the college’s applicant pool. Stauffer is one of five incoming freshmen for the Class of 2030 awarded a Dorsey Scholarship.
Stauffer was chosen for this honor due to her academic success, extracurriculars, and community involvement. She is a member of the high school golf team, a part of the student council, involved in various honors societies, part of the library committee, a participant of the Interact and UNITE clubs, and competes in/teaches Irish dance.
Her future goals include studying biochemistry and attending medical school to become a gastroenterologist.
Well done, Emily! We can’t wait to see you continue to excel these next four years and beyond.
