Warwick High School students recently showcased their scientific talent, earning top honors at multiple regional STEAM competitions.
First, students competed in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) Region 4 Science Fair Competition, where seniors Anya Dwivedi (10th Grade) and Logan Martin (12th Grade) competed in the senior high chemistry division and earned enough points to earn 1st place awards. In addition to earning first-place accolades, Anya was also named 1st place overall for the entire division.
This competition was held on February 21st at Lancaster Country Day School.
Students who earned first-place honors at the regional competition qualified for the state competition, Sunday, May 17th through Tuesday, May 19th at Penn State University.

In addition to PJAS, Warwick also had students compete at the North Museum Science and Engineering Fair (NMSEF). This competition was held on March 12th at Millersville University.
Emily Stauffer (12th Grade) was named the Reserve Champion, with a 3rd place overall finish in the senior division for her project titled, “Rats on Roughage: The Effects of Dietary Fiber on Rattus norvegicus.” This qualifies her for the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) to be held in Phoenix, Arizona, this May.
Anya Dwivedi (10th Grade) earned 1st place in the Chemistry/Materials Science/Energy category with her project, “A Shocking Defense: Synthesis and Evaluation of a Piezoelectric Hydrogel against E. coli and S. epidermidis.”
Lastly, Shepherd Todd (11th Grade) received an Honorable Mention in the Plant Sciences category for his project, “Pitcher Perfect Digestion: The Effect of Pitcher Plant Fluid on Chitinous Exoskeletons.”
