20+ Students Qualify for Music Festivals

We are delighted to recognize a number of high school student musicians who have qualified for LVC Honors Band, LLMEA Orchestra, LLMEA Band, PMEA Orchestra, and PMEA Band. The following students have worked hard to earn their places in these prestigious festivals.

LVC Honors Band

The Lebanon Valley College Honors Band will take place on Friday, January 16th, and Saturday, January 17th, at the Blair Music Center. The festival conductors are Dr. Chris Heffner (LVC) and Dr. Dre Graham (2020 Florida Teacher of the Year). Each student who was selected and chose to participate earned a $10,000 scholarship to attend LVC College. The festival will end with a free public concert at 7:30 pm on Saturday, January 17th, in Lutz Performance Hall in the Blair Music building on LVC’s campus.

LLMEA Orchestra

The High School LLMEA County Orchestra Festival will take place on Saturday, January 17th, at Palmyra Middle School, under the direction of Mr. Andrew Kurtz and Mr. Richard Winey from Elizabethtown High School. The festival performance is at 5:00 PM, and tickets are $7.00 cash at the door. Attendees can look forward to three orchestras performing, including a Phillharmonic (full symphony orchestra) led by Dr. Robert Spence (Elizabethtown College), Sinfonia (Advanced String Orchestra) led by Mr. Greg Woodbridge (Associate Conductor of the Harrisburg Symphone Orchestra and Conductor of the Hershey Symphony Orchestra), and the 9th Grade Festival Orchestra (strings) led by Mr. Anthony Scheuerman (Lebanon School District).

LLMEA Band

The High School LLMEA County Band will take place on Saturday, January 31st, at Ephrata High School under the leadership of conductors Dr. Daniel Neunschwander (Kutztown University) and Dr. Joe Cernuto (Millersville College). The festival concert will begin at 5:00 pm, and tickets are $7.00 cash at the door.

PMEA Orchestra

The High School PMEA District 7 Orchestra Festival will take place on January 23rd and 24th at Dallastown Area High School. The guest conductors for the festival are Dr. Christopher Cicconi (James Madison University) for the Full Symphony Orchestra and Dr. Zachary Levi (Susquehanna University) for the Chamber String Orchestra. The concert will be held on January 24th at 4:00 pm, and tickets are $10.00 cash at the door.

PMEA Band

The PMEA District 7 Band festival will take place on February 6th and 7th at Donegal High School with conductor Dr. Adam Gumble (West Chester University). The concert will take place on Saturday, February 7th, at 4:00 pm, with tickets sold at the door for $10.00.
