Warwick School District

Students Compete in Lancaster County CTC SkillsUSA District Competitions

Each year, we have a number of students enrolled in the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center (CTC) who compete in the SkillsUSA competition.

SkillsUSA is a national career and technical education (CTE) organization that gives students the opportunity to demonstrate real-world skills, leadership, and professionalism through hands-on competitions. These competitions are designed with input from industry professionals to reflect the skills students would be expected to use in actual careers (ie, construction, healthcare, culinary arts, etc.).

Students enrolled in CTC or CTE programs are able to become members of SkillsUSA, which allows them to compete and participate in leadership activities. Students first compete at the local/district-level to demonstrate their skills through hands-on performance tasks, written or technical assessments, team or individual projects, and presentations or leadership challenges. Students who place 1st at the district level advance to the state competition, with the top state competitors advancing to the National SkillsUSA Championships, where they compete against the top students from across the country.

Each competition is judged by professionals working in the field, using national technical standards to evaluate accuracy, safety, teamwork, problem-solving, and professionalism.

This year, we had seven Warwick students place in the top 3, with four of those students earning 1st place and advancing on to the State Competition.
