Warwick Students Explore France during Summer Abroad Trip

Just days after the school year ended, 32 students in French 2 through AP French, accompanied by five chaperones, traveled to France for an unforgettable trip! This trip offered the perfect blend of language practice, history, cultural immersion, and self-discovery.

The trip began on the French Riviera, where they explored Monaco and Nice, and took a dip in the Mediterranean Sea. From there, they traveled through Provence to visit the awe-inspiring Roman amphitheater and the Pont du Gard, a 2,000-year-old Roman aqueduct that stands as a testament to ancient engineering.

Next, they ventured to the Loire Valley, where they toured the iconic Château de Chenonceau and the historic Château d’Amboise. Both of these locations were filled with royal and Renaissance history. In Paris, the group marveled at the luxurious Palace of Versailles, imagining life in the footsteps of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette, and then enjoyed a magical evening cruise along the Seine River, seeing the City of Light from a breathtaking perspective.

To wrap up this incredible educational journey, the group traveled to Normandy, where they reflected on poignant moments in history. During their time in Normandy, they walked the hallowed grounds of the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, stood on the sands of Omaha Beach, and visited the War Memorial in Caen.

This once-in-a-lifetime trip created unbelievable memories, deepened cultural understanding, and fostered lifelong connections. It was an incredible way to bring classroom learning into the real world, complete with rich history, beautiful landscapes, fluent French, and of course, a croissant or two!
