We’re thrilled to share that two Warwick students were recently honored in the 2025 LNP Student Journalism Contest!
Nola Lobo, a 7th-grade student at Warwick Middle School, earned 1st place in the Writing Contest, while Colette Pickel, a 4th-grade student at Kissel Hill Elementary, was selected as a winner in the Design an Ad Contest.
For the writing contest, students were asked to reflect on the meaning of community and why it matters. Encouraged by her ELA teacher, Ms. Jenna Brower, Nola embraced the opportunity to showcase her voice:
“I love writing, and the prospect of being published outside of school is so cool to me. I want to be a write,r and this was such an awesome experience!” - Nola Lobo
Meanwhile, the Design an Ad Contest gave students the chance to partner creatively with local businesses. Each participant designed an ad to reflect a business's mission and message, with the final selections made by the advertisers themselves. Ms. Susanna Grubb inspired her entire 4th-grade class to take part in this exciting opportunity.
“When I was younger, I wanted to be an art teacher, and I’m still interested in that!” - Colette Pickel
We are so proud of Nola and Colette for their creativity, dedication, and hard work. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!
