The Warwick High School Band recently received a $1,000.00 donation from the Mockingbird Foundation.

The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization that was founded by Phish fans in 1997 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community and beyond. So far, they’ve distributed over $1.9M to support music education in all 50 states.

With each concert, the foundation chooses a school program that is within a certain distance of the performance to award the grant money to. On December 31st, Phish performed a concert at Rock Lititz, and the Warwick Band program was deemed the recipient. The organization writes, ‘As fans, the foundation is aware of the impact visiting fans may have on the community in and around Lititz. As music lovers, we want to utilize attention regarding that visit to increase support for music education, and we’re particularly impressed by the work of the Warwick High School Band.”

We are sincerely both honored and grateful to the Mockingbird Foundation for their generosity and support to our music department.

With this check, the Mockingbird Foundation has now made over 530 grants in all 50 states totaling over 1.9 million dollars donated. Grants are funded through donations, special events, and curated art and other merchandise. All projects are a volunteer-only basis, and all net proceeds are donated to music education.

With this grant, Mr. Matt Tenaglia, the Warwick High School Band instructor, is looking into ways to improve the educational experience of the students in the high school band.
