Marching Band Presents ‘It Don’t Mean a Thing’

Last week, the Marching Band began practicing for this year’s show titled, ‘It Don’t Mean a Thing.’

Throughout the Summer, students had been attending rehearsals on Tuesday nights and Wednesday mornings to keep their skills sharp. On July 31st, students began attending the annual Band Camp to prepare for the show.

This year, the band is comprised of 88 members; 21 woodwinds, 35 brass, 16 percussion, and 15 color guard. The show will feature musical arrangements of the classic songs, It Don’t Mean a Thing, My Funny Valentine, and Sing Sing Sing.

During band camp, students practice marching, learn choreographed moves, memorize their music, and hone in on a variety of other musical skills. The band is conducted by the student Drum Major, Hayden Milchanowski and this year’s field captains are Maggie Turner (Wind Captain) and Alex Fair (Brass Captain).

As an added layer of fun, students participate in themed days for each day of band camp.
