This past week, elementary students from all four of our buildings in grades 4-6 competed in the IU13 24 Challenge Math Competition.
Challenge 24 is mental math computation game where students are given 4 numbers and they need to figure out a way to use the four math computations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) to come up with the solution of 24. There are multiple rounds held with 1-digit and 2-digit numbers. 6th-grade students are given an additional challenge where they compete with variable cards that have 2 overlapping problems with a number missing. Students need to figure out the missing digit that would solve both problems.
