Warwick School District

Annual District-Wide Elementary Fun Run

Warwick School District recently held its Annual District-Wide Elementary Fun Run, organized and run by the Junior High and Varsity Cross Country teams.

The race was held on September 22nd, with over 250 students from across the district participating in the event.

Each year, the team organizes this event to promote healthy lifestyles, encourage fitness, and build excitement around running among our elementary-aged students.

"Our family has been coming to the Elementary Fun Run for over 6 years now, and every year it just gets better! There is nothing like seeing the kids' faces light up as they realize they can "do hard things" and cross that finish line so proud of themselves. It doesn't matter if they are first or last—everyone is cheering them on! I love seeing so many families return year after year, and watching the middle and high school cross country teams cheer on the little ones makes it so special. Huge thanks to everyone who makes this event run so seamlessly!" - Alli Swords, Warwick Parent.

The event organizes students by grade level to participate in races of varying distances (K-1st grade: quarter-mile run, 2nd-5th grade: half-mile run, 6th grade: one-mile run).

The top five finishers (boys and girls) for each race qualified for the Lancaster County Championship run that will take place on October 18th at Overlook Park, and the top three finishers (boys and girls) for each race earned medals.

In addition to the individual awards, the elementary school with the highest student participation was also recognized. This year, Lititz Elementary earned the “Best Participation Award” by recruiting over 90 students to join this year’s race.
