About Library Class

In the library, we will learn about authors and illustrators, literary awards, research skills, internet safety, and how to be effective users of information. Of course, we will also do our fair share of reading together! Each week, students will have the opportunity to borrow books from the library to enjoy at home or in the classroom.

CIRCULATION
  • Students will visit the library once each 4-day cycle.
  • Kindergarten and first grade students may borrow one book.
  • Students in grades 2-6 may borrow 2 books.
  • Students must return ALL library materials before they can check out something new. Remember--book return is graded!
  • If a student is not finished with a book, they may renew materials up to 5 times (unless another student is waiting for it).
  • Students may only borrow 1 graphic novel at a time.
Part of using the library is learning how to take care of books and accepting responsibility for borrowed items. Books that are lost or damaged must be paid for before new materials can be checked out. If a book is paid for and then found within the same academic year, families will be refunded! Until lost or damaged books are taken care of, students will lose points on their book return grade.

LIBRARY EXPECTATIONS
  • Students will walk and use appropriate volume in the library.
  • Students will take good care of library books and materials.
  • Technology will be used responsibly and respectfully.
  • Students will treat all peers and adults with kindness and respect.
  • Students will abide by the Climber Code: Respectful, Responsible, Ready.
