Warwick School District

Pre-Kindergarten Application Opens April 1, 2024!

It’s been another fantastic year of having a Pre-Kindergarten class at Kissel Hill Elementary, and we’re happy to share that registration for the ‘24-’25 school year will open on April 1, 2024.

Like last year, we will be offering one Pre-K classroom with 2 sessions (morning or afternoon). Due to limited seats available, applications will be reviewed and students will be selected based on financial need and other vulnerabilities.

This program was first piloted in the '21-'22 school year and is designed to build a foundation and instill success within Warwick’s youngest learners. Students will study language arts, math, fine motor skills, science, digital discovery, and social skills with Mrs. Stacey Yunginger, the Pre-Kindergarten teacher here at Warwick.

The program is geared primarily toward 4-year-olds, but if there are open seats in the class, 3-year-old students may be accepted. Students need to meet the age requirements as of September 15th, 2024.

Students attending our Pre-K program should apply for the Free and Reduced Lunch program. Families who are eligible will receive free or reduced lunch rates. Currently, the breakfast program is free to all students regardless of family income, but we are unsure if this program will continue for the 24/25 school year.

“Our Pre-K learners are simply amazing! Their innate curiosity leads to learning without them even realizing it. During our day, we work on foundational academic skills as well as social skills, fine motor skills, and gross motor skills. Learning is happening in so many ways and every student is soaking it all in! The smiles and voices of our youngest learners truly brighten the halls of Kissel Hill.” - Stacey Yunginger, Pre-Kindergarten Teacher.

Warwick is blessed to have such a great teacher like Mrs. Yunginger teaching our littlest learners!

Our goal with the Pre-K program is to continue to provide consistent and rigorous whole-child programming to all students. This program provides structure, support, and services to enable students to enter Kindergarten successfully.

"We love our Pre-K scholars! As a school principal, investing in high-quality Pre-K programs is not only an investment in our children’s futures but also an investment in our society's prosperity. Our amazing staff loves and cares for each child while laying a strong foundation for early education. We empower our youngest learners to reach their full potential and set them on a path towards lifelong success." - Heriberto Cordero, Principal of Kissel Hill Elementary.

We are greatly looking forward to continuing to grow the program and welcoming another new class of Warriors to our Warwick family!
