2022 High School Envirothon Competition

Last Thursday, our High School Envirothon club sent two teams of students to the Lancaster County Envirothon Competition at the Lancaster Co Parks at the Kiwanis Lodge.

Teams are made up of 5 students and each school is able to send up to 3 teams. This year, our school sent 2 teams to the competition. Students spent the day competing in a series of questions and activities competing in the following categories: Wildlife, Aquatics, Forestry, Soils, and Zero Waste.

Envirothon allows students to achieve in topics of environmental significance and exposes them to knowledge that could lead to future careers as well as skill development of working collaboratively in teams. Involved students will improve their abilities of discernment, analysis and the importance of the environment we live in.

During the competition, our team took first place in both the Forestry and the Soils sections of the competition and earned both 2nd and 3rd place overall.

This year’s two teams were made up of the following students: Luke MacNair,  (12) Colby Richard (12), Ben Sweigart (12), Asher Sabbagh (12),  Josef Bach (12),  Kaitlynn Himelright (10), Lily Grisbacher (11), Bre Cesavice (12) and Morgan Pha (12).

Great job to everyone involved!

Interested in joining next year’s team?

The Envirothon club can take up to three different teams (15 students total) to each year’s competition. This club is a great place for students who love the outdoors and learning about birds, wildlife, trees, and the environment. Warwick’s Envirothon Club has gone to states 9 times since the club’s founding. Additionally, teams who win at states earn scholarships for each member of the team. If you’re interested in learning more about the club, feel free to stop by, they’d love to meet you!
