English Language Arts 06 (24-25 Update)

Course Description


Our language arts program includes a focus on literacy skills in the primary grades and moves to
application of those skills through the intermediate grades. Whenever it is appropriate, reading is
combined with writing and other subjects to develop an integrated approach.

PA Common Core: English Language Arts (2013)

  • Reading Informational Text: Students read, understand, and respond to informational text – with emphasis on comprehension, making connections among ideas and between texts with focus on textual evidence.

    • GRADE 6

      • Determine two or more main or central ideas of a text and how they are conveyed through particular details; provide a summary of the text distinct from personal opinions or judgments.(1.2.6.A)
      • Cite textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences and/or generalizations drawn from the text.(1.2.6.B)
