Algebra 1

Course Description


This is a one year Algebra I course. Emphasis is placed on the fundamental ideas of equalities and inequalities, solving of equations with one or two variables, expanding and factoring polynomials, and graphing and evaluation of linear equations.  The course stresses applications of these concepts with problem solving. Good reasoning and arithmetic concepts are emphasized.

  • Operations and Linear Equations & Inequalities

    • Operations with Real Numbers and Expressions

      • Represent and/or use numbers in equivalent forms (e.g., integers, fractions, decimals, percents, square roots, and exponents).(A1.1.1.1)
        • Compare and/or order any real numbers (rational and irrational may be mixed).(A1.1.1.1.1)
        • Simplify square roots (e.g., √24 = 2√6).(A1.1.1.1.2)
