Honors Organic Chemistry (sem)- STEELS

Course Description


This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to organic compounds and lab techniques more specific to the organic chemistry lab. The course is structured around organic functional groups, their nomenclature, and basic reactions. During the course, students will also analyze organic structures for isomers and will observe the physical and chemical properties of organic compounds. Time will be spent in the lab carrying out distillations, completing solvent extractions, taking melting points, and conducting various types of chromatography. This course is especially recommended for anyone interested in a career related to chemistry, medicine, or nursing.
