Course Description

Social studies instruction is tied directly to the Pennsylvania Academic Standards related to History, Geography, Civics & Government, and Economics. The curriculum focuses on the 4 standard areas as it builds and broadens in scope from grade to grade. Third grade students will learn about communities, standard features of a map, regions of the US, Native Americans, how Pennsylvania contributed to the development of a new nation,  and the effect of the economy on people's lives.

Civics and Government (2009-2012)

  • Principles and Documents of Government

    • GRADE 3

      • Explain the purposes of rules, laws, and consequences.(5.1.3.A)
      • Explain rules and laws for the classroom, school, and community.(5.1.3.B)
