Photography I

Course Description


Photography I is an introductory course designed to familiarize students with basic tools, materials, and processes involved in this changing form of visual communication. At Warwick we will study theory and practice photography using an all-digital process. Basic camera handling and operation, exposure concepts, importing, editing, printing, finishing and elements of composition are studied.

PA Common Core: Science and Technical Subjects (2012)

  • Reading Informational Text: Students read, understand, and respond to informational text – with emphasis on comprehension, making connections among ideas and between texts with focus on textual evidence.

    • GRADES 9-10

      • Cite specific textual evidence to support analysis of science and technical texts, attending to the precise details of explanations or descriptions.(3.5.9-10.A)

  • Writing: Students write for different purposes and audiences. Students write clear and focused text to convey a well-defined perspective and appropriate content.

    • GRADES 9-10

      • Write informative/explanatory texts, including the narration of historical events, scientific procedures/ experiments, or technical processes.-Introduce a topic and organize ideas, concepts, and information to make important connections and distinctions; include formatting (e.g., headings), graphics(3.6.9-10.B)
      • Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.(3.6.9-10.C)
