Graphic Communications I

Course Description


Graphic communication history, theory, processes, applications, and practices. New technologies that affect day-to-day communication including
traditional and digital printing and publishing, and non-print imaging. Overview of design technology,
digital media, printing.

PA Common Core: Science and Technical Subjects (2012)

  • Reading Informational Text: Students read, understand, and respond to informational text – with emphasis on comprehension, making connections among ideas and between texts with focus on textual evidence.

    • GRADES 9-10

      • Cite specific textual evidence to support analysis of science and technical texts, attending to the precise details of explanations or descriptions.(3.5.9-10.A)

  • Writing: Students write for different purposes and audiences. Students write clear and focused text to convey a well-defined perspective and appropriate content.

      • Write informative/explanatory texts, including the narration of historical events, scientific procedures/ experiments, or technical processes.-Introduce a topic and organize ideas, concepts, and information to make important connections and distinctions; include formatting (e.g., headings), graphics(3.6.9-10.B)
