
This course introduces the student to basic manufacturing and construction processes utilized by the metal industry. The technologies explored will include machining, foundry, welding, soldering, sheet metal, forging and computer numerical controlled (CNC) machinery. The environmental impact of the metals industry on society will be explored. Manufacturing and Construction in Metal Technology I will include the testing and processing of raw materials into finished products. Individual and industrial safety will be emphasized, concluding with a required laboratory safety improvement project.
