English as a Second Language (ESL) Services
English as a Second Language (ESL) Services are provided to students for whom English is not their primary language or who are living in a home where English is not the only language spoken. Home Language surveys are completed by all parents/guardians who register students in Warwick School District. Those students who meet the criteria for screening are referred to the ESL teacher in the building who is responsible for screening, providing necessary services and completing all necessary paperwork associated with ESL services.

Parents have the right to refuse ESL services.  Refusal of English Language Development (ELD) programs and/or services indicates an informed, voluntary decision by the parent to not have the child placed in any separate, specialized ELD service or instructional program. A "waiver" indicates a desire by the parent to waive the child from participation in all or some of the ELD programs or services offered by the school.  Parents who are interested in refusing their right to ESL services should complete this waiver.
