Students Participate in "Meet A German" Initiative

On October 6th and October 7th, 2021, students in select German classes at Warwick Middle School and Warwick High School participated in the “Meet a German” initiative sponsored by Fulbright Germany and the American Association of Teachers of German. In its fourth year, “Meet a German” connects students in American schools with a native German speaker who joins for a class period to talk about German life and culture.

Warwick’s German classes met virtually with Patrick Klösel, a graduate student from Berlin currently studying at Harvard University. Mr. Klösel is originally from the German state of Bavaria, the same state as our longstanding exchange between Warwick High School and König-Karlmann Gymnasium in Altötting, Germany. During the sessions, students had the opportunity to ask questions in both German and English. Topics of discussion ranged from popular snack foods in Germany to the German political system and the results of Germany’s recent election.

This was a great opportunity for Warwick’s foreign language students to practice their skills in German, while learning about a culture that is different from theirs.
