Each November, students at John Beck Elementary, with the help of the PTO, host a Veteran’s Day Breakfast to honor and recognize local vets. Recently, the school was awarded a “Certificate of Recognition” for last year’s Veteran’s Day event. The ladies from the VFW Auxiliary in Lititz submitted John Beck for the award due to the outstanding work the students put into it. It was a special day and a proud moment for the students to honor the veterans in their lives.
Although the breakfast was not able to be held in person this fall — students instead are participating in a donation drive called “Operation: With love, from Home.”
Isabella George, a current John Beck student, wanted to surprise her brother Isaac a former Warwick student who is currently stationed overseas, with a box of donations for him and his platoon. Students are collecting various items to be donated and sent.
In light of the current situation, John Beck students, along with the PTO, are finding ways to honor and thank our local vets.
