Warwick High School Senior Catherine Everett was recently awarded the Horatio Alger Scholarship for the state of Pennsylvania. Catherine saw this scholarship was available through the senior board at the high school and it was worth up to $20,000. She had to write an essay on how this scholarship would be able to assist her financially and help her education. Catherine was a semi-finalist, then eventually moved on to being named a finalist.
When asked what she wrote about, Catherine stated that she discussed a lot about her step-father. He’s been the one who has motivated her and she continues to look up to him.
Catherine will be using this scholarship to attend the University of Alabama, where she will double major in Biology and Psychology.
“Without this, I would not have been able to afford to go to the University of Alabama,” Catherine said. She chose Alabama because it's her home state; additionally, it's where her father went to study law, and her brother attended the university as well.
Congratulations to Catherine, and best of luck at Alabama… Roll Tide!
