Amelia Fair First Warwick Student to Perform at District Jazz Festival

Junior vocalist, Amelia Fair has become the first Warwick student to qualify for the PMEA District 7 Jazz Festival.

The performance will be held at ELCO High School on April 6th and 7th.  Guest conductors are Marc Dicciani from the University of the Arts, Dr. Buzz Jones from Gettysburg College AND Elizabeth Radigonda from the University of the Arts.

Three different groups will be performing at this festival, two instrumental, and a vocal ensemble.  Amelia will be representing Warwick in the vocal ensemble singing pieces like, “Softly as in a Morning Sunshine”, “Nobody Not Really”, and “Georgia on my Mind”.

What makes this so special to Amelia is that the festival is being hosted by her father, David Fair, music teacher at ELCO.  She stated that she wanted to audition because this is something she’s never done before. She also wanted to branch out and go for this festival because her grandmother is a professional jazz musician.  Amelia has been preparing for the festival by looking over the music and working with her grandmother.

“I am excited to represent Warwick by myself,” Amelia stated.  “I have a lot of other friends that will be performing at this festival, so it will be really cool to see them and meet new people.”

Amelia recently starred as Reno Sweeney in Warwick’s spring musical of “Anything Goes.”  She’s also qualified to past festivals such as PMEA Regional Chorus, and LLMEA County Chorus.
