High School Music Department Presents "Anything Goes"

High School Music Department Presents "Anything Goes"

The 1930’s Cole Porter musical, “Anything Goes” follows the noted cabaret performer, Reno Sweeny, played by Warwick’s Amelia Fair, and her group of friends as they board the S.S. American on a trip across the Atlantic from New York City to England.

This rom-com is a tangled web of love stories. It starts to gets a little complicated trying to keep it all straight.  Reno admires Billy Crocker a stowaway, played by Johnathan Stephenson, who is in love with Hope Harcourt, played by Madison Felpel, who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh (Josiah McCracken). Making the situation even more complex, Billy’s boss, Elisha Whitney (Caleb Kessler), has an interest in Hope’s mother, Mrs. Evangeline Harcourt (Katie Bender).  Add all of those characters together makes for quite an eventful evening.  Joining in the love triangle are other passengers onboard, Public Enemy #13, Moonface Martin (Micah Bomberger) and his side-kick in crime Erma, played by Lauren Epps.  Using some elaborate disguises, tap-dancing sailors and good old-fashioned blackmail, Reno, and Martin join forces to help Billy in his quest to win over Hope’s heart.

Other leads include Hudson Jean as The Right Reverend, Bishop Henry T. Dobson with Nathan Knudson and Stephen Quinones as Luke and John, two of Bishop Dobson’s converts.

Music from the show includes, “I Get A Kick Out Of You”, “There’s No Cure Like Travel”, “There’ll Always Be A Sailor” and “Friendship”.  The show is under the direction of Mrs. Deb Kline-Smith.
