Warwick School District held its annual Spelling Bee on Wednesday, January 24th 2018. There were approximately 50 students that participated in the bee from the middle school and elementary schools across the district. The Spelling Bee followed the guidelines of the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee. There were five judges for the competition, Mr. Joseph Lacombe was the pronouncer, and Mrs. Barbara Schober was the event coordinator.
There were some tough words the contestants were given, but all the students did a great job.
Katherine Jeanes was the winner of the Warwick district-wide bee, with Elena Smith as runner-up.
The top five finalists, Payden Beuke, Katherine Jeanes, Grayson Miller, Isabel Miller and Elena Smith will represent Warwick at the qualifying round of the Lancaster Intelligencer Spelling Bee that will take place on February 21, 2018, at the Gerald G. Huesken Middle School. Finalists will then move to the 60th Annual Lancaster Newspaper Spelling Bee that will be held on March 16, 2018.
