The Warwick High School Music Department cordially invites the public to attend their annual Winter Holiday Concert to be held this weekend, Saturday, December 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 10 at 3 p.m. in the Warwick High School Performing Arts Center, 301 West Orange Street, Lititz. Admission to the show is free. Donations will be accepted on behalf of the Warwick Warblers. Open seating begins an hour and a half prior to each performance.
This year’s program is entitled, “Wings of Joy” a celebration of the joy that is discovered anew each year during the holiday season. The concert features the Warwick High School Symphony Orchestra, High School Concert Choir, Middle School Chorus and Choral Ensemble as well as the Holiday, Winter and Production companies. Directors for this year’s show include: Mrs. Debra A. Kline-Smith, Director of Choirs and Mrs. Ann M. Ahlers, Director of Orchestra.
Director, Mrs. Kline-Smith states that, “This music unites us, fills us with joy, deepens our hope, enriches our community and helps us better reach out to others this wonderful holiday season.” The music department dedicates this performance to all who have either directly or indirectly suffered this past year as a victim of disaster, injustice or misfortune.
The show will begin with the Warwick High School Symphony Orchestra performing “Gloria”, “Sleigh Ride”, “Christmas Vacation” and “A Christmas Festival”.
The show continues on with the String Synergy playing classic holiday favorites, “Born is He” and “Mary Did You Know?”.
Next is the Concert Choir, Production Companies and Middle School Chorus singing “Christmas Angels” with soloist, Akash Banerjee.
The Concert Choir continues with, “Bring A Torch” with solo performances by Johnathan Stephenson and Lauren Epps.
The Middle School Chorus sounds off with holiday favorites like, “Gloria!” and “Carol Of the Bells”.
Closing out the first act, the Production Company performs “Wings of Joy” and “The Birth of the Baby Boy”.
After a short intermission, the Middle School Choral Ensemble will take the stage, under the direction of Mr. Stephan Englehart. They will perform, “Angels We have Heard On High” and “There is Faint Music”.
The Production Company sings their final sections: “Tonight”, with soloists Isabella Goss, Katie Bender and Micah Bomberger, “Hallelujah (Light Has Come)”, with soloists Madison Felpel, Lillian Durbin, Lauren Epps and Amelia Fair. They will conclude with “Sing Gloria Tonight! with Glory, Glory” soloists include Caleb Goss, Marina Perrotti, Talia Bertrando and Heather Mitchell.
The choirs combine for their high-energy finale with well-known songs like, “Joy to the World”, “How Great our Joy!” and “Christmas Angels”.
As done in the past, alumni and friends of Warwick High School are invited to join along in the singing of G.F. Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus”.
