WEF Presents Check

WEF Presents Check

Warwick Education Foundation (WEF) presented the Warwick School Board with a check representing the $95,600.00 that has been donated to our students and staff.  The funds represent contributions to the WEF from businesses that participated in the PA Educational Improvement Tax Credit program late last year and early in 2017. EITC is a state run program that allows businesses to contribute through the education foundation to pre-approved learning programs that benefit students locally.

Mr. Grant Hummer shared the following statement regarding this presentation:

In the Warwick School District, EITC funds support a variety of learning opportunities for students. They support the purchase of computer technology, as well as Warwick’s innovative reading program that identifies elementary school children who need reading assistance much earlier than traditional methods.  Early recognition allows children to get reading assistance sooner so they become more confident and proficient readers and build a much stronger foundation for learning success.

The EITC contributions represented by this check come from the generosity of 10 companies:

BB & T

BCF Group

Clair Global

Ephrata National Bank

Fox Meadows Creamery

Gibbel Kraybill & Hess

Lititz Mutual Insurance Company

Orrstown Bank

PA Truck Centers

Weis Markets, Inc.

One of our new EITC contributors this year is Pennsylvania Truck Centers in Wrightsville, PA.  Wrightsville is obviously outside of Warwick School District, but fortunately for all of us, vice president Ron Bowman of PA Truck Centers has a heart for our school district.  Ron grew up in Lititz, graduated from Warwick and moved away for decades.  But the pull of Lititz kept tugging at him, and now he lives here, and is restoring a fixer upper in downtown Lititz. He’s at a place in his life where he’d like to give back, and he did so this year with a gift of $25,000 for WEF through the EITC program.

Ron and his company are just one example of the community coming together to enrich education for Warwick students.

Mr. Hummer said “We thank all of the businesses that participated in the EITC program this year. Together we’re making education and our community stronger.”
