Every other year, John Beck's PTO provides funding for the Mobile Ag Lab to visit John Beck. The Mobile Ag Lab is at John Beck for the week of 5/15 thru 5/19. Students are provided with the opportunity to visit the lab and perform hands-on science experiments related to agricultural concepts and involving agricultural commodities.
The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau’s Mobile Agriculture Education Science Lab is brining agricultural education to life this week at John Beck Elementary School. Every other year, John Beck's PTO provides funding for the Mobile Ag Lab to visit the students. The students have the opportunity to visit the lab and perform hands-on science experiments related to agricultural concepts and agricultural commodities.
With fewer children having ties to farming, the Mobile Ag Lab helps teachers educate students about the importance of agriculture.
Once stationed at John Beck, students enter the fully equipped Mobile Lab to perform science experiments that teach lessons focused on farm, food, fiber, and the environment. The Mobile Lab visit is coordinated with teachers to help prepare students for the science experiments. A certified teacher travels with the lab to lead each class in the science experiment.
Some of the experiments presented included: “Little Red Hen’s Pizza”, “The Colorful Bean”, “Pigment Power”, “Tree Story”, “Crawley Critters,” Corn to Plastic”, and “Tops & Bottoms”.
The Mobile Ag Lab provides an enriching educational opportunity to all students at John Beck. John Beck is appreciative of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and the PTO’s support of this “Linking School to Our Future” learning experience.
