WMS/WHS Orchestra Concert this Weekend
The secondary orchestras of the Warwick School District invites the public to attend their annual Spring Concert to be held Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 3 PM in the Warwick High School Performing Arts Center, 301 West Orange Street, Lititz.
Featuring individual and combined performances by the Warwick Middle (WMS) and Warwick High (WHS) schools, the concert promises something for everyone.
Repertoire to be performed by the WMS Orchestra includes: “The Abduction from the Seraglio” by W.A. Mozart/arr. Richard Meyer; “Nighthawk” by Mike Kamuf; “End Pin Rag” by Richard Meyer; “The Lord of the Dance” by Ronan Hardiman / arr. Larry Moore
WMS Orchestra Combined with WHS Orchestra Strings and Percussion will perform: “Clinch Mountain Backstep” by Ralph Stanley/arr. Larry Moore.
WHS String Orchestra will play: “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri / arr. Larry Moore; “Libertango” by Astor Piazzolla/arr. James Kazik.
String Synergy (string ensemble group) will perform: “Overture” by Ludwig van Beethoven & W.A. Mozart/arr. Paul O'Neill & Bob Phillips and “Sing, Sing, Sing” by Louis Prima/arr. Marshall & Phillips.
After a brief Intermission, the concert will continue with WHS Orchestra: “Prairiesong” by Carl Strommen, featuring the talents of: Alec Winpenny, Noah Rogers on clarinets,; Rebekah George, Samantha Buckwalter, Shohini Banerjee, on flutes; Madison Felpel on oboe; Sarah Beatty, Gracie King on saxophones; Madeline Grisbacher on horn, and Taylor Knecht on trumpet. “Danse Infernale” by Igor Stravinsky/arr. Merle Isaac, “The Firebird” by Igor Stravinsky/arr. Jack Bullock, “The American River” by George Gerswhin, traditional & Stephen Foster / arr. Mike Lewis.
All WHS senior instrumentalists will be recognized during “Ashokan Farewell” by Jay Ungar / arr. Bob Cerulli with Mylin Snyder and Salem Longer on violins.
