JRB: Distinguished Title 1 School
John R Bonfield Elementary School has been selected by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Division of Federal Programs, as a Title I Distinguished School in the 2016-2017 school year.
“I am extremely proud of the students and staff at Bonfield Elementary and all their hard work to ensure each student achieves to his or her maximum potential. This kind of success only happens with the shared efforts of the school, home and community. We are very fortunate to have a dedicated staff, supportive homes and a giving community to provide our students with an outstanding education,” said John R. Bonfield Principal Stacie Bardell.
Each year, the Division of Federal Programs honors the top performing Title I schools in Pennsylvania. This year, John R. Bonfield Elementary was one of only 179 Title 1 schools across the state to receive the honor of “Distinguished Schools”. These High Achievement/High Progress schools represent the highest 5% of Title I PA schools based on aggregate math and reading PSSA or Keystone scores and on a composite of the math and English Language Arts (ELA) Pennsylvania Value Added Assessment System (PVAAS) scores for the schools. These honored schools have also met participation and graduation/attendance rates.
John R. Bonfield Elementary School and other PA distinguished schools will be honored at the 2017 Title 1 Improving Schools’ Performance Conference to be held January 29-February 1, 2017 in Pittsburgh.
