2012 Warwick Commencement

Warwick High School held its Fifty-Sixth Annual Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2012 Monday, June 11, at Calvary Church in Lancaster. More than 350 Warwick students, adorned in black gowns and caps with red tassels, walked in the ceremonial procession. The program began with the playing of the processional entrance song, "Pomp and Circumstance", performed by the Warwick High School Concert Band. Students filed into the church auditorium from each of the two staircases, located above the main seating area where family and friends could view the ceremony. A separate overflow area was located in an adjacent room at the top of the stairs where others in attendance could view the ceremony on a large screen.

Warwick High School Principal Mr. Troy Price welcomed the students, staff, family, and guests to the graduation ceremony and announced the presentation of the class Salutatorian, Korey Johnson, and Valedictorian, Charles Good. Both top students addressed their fellow students and guests.

Korey Johnson spoke on the theme "Never Give In". Charles Good spoke on "Dream Big". Both students had been preparing to give this speech for several weeks. This year, the top four students were identified using the fourth marking period grades, rather than the end of the third marking period grades as had been done in the past, giving a truer result. The top four students were identified several weeks before the end of school, and were asked to prepare speeches to give at commencement, knowing that only two of them would give their speeches that night.

The top four students included: Natalie Weaver, Justin Pennypacker, Charles Good, and Korey Johnson. You can view the text of the 2012 graduation speeches here.
