LE Gotta Keep Reading

On June 1, 2012, Lititz Elementary School held a school-wide assembly in celebration of the culmination of their year long reading incentive program, “Gotta Keep Reading”.  In this program, when students reached reading milestones - they were promised fun goals and rewards. For example: when the students collectively read a certain number of minutes their teachers had to wear purple wigs.  Two custodians from LE agreed to get a "pie in the face", and LE Principal Mrs. Melanie Calendar vowed to "kiss a live pig" if the students collectively reached 180,000 minutes of reading.

All these fun goals were realized and students were treated to an assembly honoring the top readers and watching the end results as their principal kissed "Miss Piggy" and Mr. Kane and Mr. Hilt took cream pies to their faces. And, teachers were looking quite stunning in their purple hair. Who knew reading could be so much fun?!
